What is a Doctor of Acupuncture and
Traditional Chinese Medicine,
and
Why Should I See One?

A Doctor of Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) in Alberta is a highly trained medical professional who is specially educated to diagnose and treat your medical condition according to the philosophies and protocols of Traditional Chinese Medicine, and so can often help alleviate pain and illness when other methods failed.

Is awarded the title of “Doctor” and licensed to practice Traditional Chinese Medicine by the Government of Alberta after successfully completing 3-4 years of full-time study at an accredited college and 700 hours of supervised clinical practice, and after passing each of the 6 licensing exams required by Alberta Health Services and the College and Association of Acupuncturists of Alberta.

Applies a holistic approach to health and healing that is approved and recommended by the World Health Organization, and has been practiced continuously and successfully for over 2,000 years.

Spends a lot of time with you, listening carefully to your concerns, and learning as much as possible to accurately diagnose and treat you to help you make a quick recovery.

Uses TCM acupuncture, herbal formulas, and unique lifestyle and dietary approaches to strengthen and heal your body, mind, and spirit. This is very different than dry-needling.
